A woman who filed a lawsuit over being ejected from a female restroom after being mistaken for a man has decided to settle for thirty five thousand dollars. The incident occurred last July, after the twenty eight year old lesbian woman was ejected from the toilets by a bouncer who thought she was a man.
The incident occurred at the Caliente Cab Restaurant Co. where the woman, Khadijah Farmer, was having lunch with a friend after a Gay Pride march. When she went to the restroom she was told by the bouncer that men could not go in the women’s restroom.
The lawsuit was filed by the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund. According to the complaint Farmer had offered to provide identification to the bouncer to prove her gender but was turned down and ejected from the restroom.
Farmer stated: “People come in all shapes and sizes, and they shouldn’t be discriminated against because they don’t match someone’s expectations of how masculine or feminine they should be.”
