Sharon Osbourne Sues UK Tabloid

Sharon Osbourne, television star and wife of rocker, Ozzy Osbourne, has sued a UK tabloid newspaper over a story that it ran about Sharon and her husband. In the story the newspaper claimed that Sharon, who is Ozzy’s manager as well as his wife, was working her husband to the bone, and would end up killing him off. The Sun newspaper carried a story that accused Sharon of overworking her husband, and it went on to state that she was ‘driving her frail husband Ozzy Osbourne to destruction’. The story further claimed that as his manager she planned to keep him on the road until he ‘died on stage’.
Sharon’s lawyer stated that the comments that were made in the story were “extremely distressing, hurtful and damaging.” After taking the tabloid newspaper to a British High Court, Sharon Osbourne was awarded an undisclosed sum in legal costs and damages.
According to reports an official from the newspaper has now stated that the tabloid apologises to Sharon and her family for the distress caused by the story, and that the paper basically made the story up.
