Hip Hop star Da Brat is facing legal action over his alleged involvement in an assault that took place at Jermaine Dupri’s Georgia nightclub recently. Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, allegedly attacked a waitress with a bottle of rum after a verbal altercation.
The thirty three year old rapper was arrested after the incident and was charged with aggravated assault. However, Shala Stevens, the waitress that was allegedly attacked, is now filing a lawsuit against the star. She is filing the suit against both Harris and the owners of Atlanta’s Studio 72.
A lawyer for the waitress, who also cheerleads and does some acting, stated: “Our client was physically attacked by Da Brat and has suffered significant head injuries, permanent disfigurement as well as mental distress. Ms. Stevens is a cheerleader, choreographer, dancer, actress and entrepreneur, whose career has been greatly affected by this incident.” He added that the owners of the club refused to eject Harris after the assault, and that a manager saw the state that Ms Stevens was in but did not get her any medical attention.
