Man to Revive Lawsuit Over Lost Pants

Last year former D.C. Administrative Law Judge Roy Pearson attracted national attention after he tried to sue a small dry cleaning company for fifty four million dollars for losing a pair of pants that he had taken in to be cleaned. At the time he lost the case, but the expense and stress of the whole process resulted in the owners of the small dry cleaning business closing two of their three shops.
However, whilst the lawsuit was branded ridiculous and frivolous in the news it appears that Pearson has now been given the opportunity to revive the case as a result of a three judge appellate court panel agreeing to hear his appeal against the original decision.
This means that the owners of the firm Custom Cleaners, Jin and Soo Chung, will now be dragged back through the courts. A lawyer that worked for the Chungs stated previously: “Sadly, the Chungs were forced to close Custom Cleaners in September 2007 due to the emotional toll and flagging revenues which resulted from Mr. Pearson’s lawsuit. The Chungs now operate only one small pick-up dry cleaning store called Happy Cleaners located at 1119 7th Street, NW in Washington, DC.”
