Lawsuit Filed Against ISU Players

A lawsuit has been filed naming two ISU football players as defendants over an alleged bar fight that took place in 2007. The two players that have been named in the lawsuit, Jason Horton and Jason Tate, are accused of causing the plaintiff’s physical and emotional damage as a result of the incident, which allegedly took place in February of last year.

The plaintiffs, Frederick Walters from Heyworth, and his wife, Candice, are seeking fifty thousand dollars for emotional and physical damage. Then incident is said to have taken place at Fat Jack’s in Bloomington, where the two men allegedly caused bodily harm on the plaintiff, and “wrongfully struck him with their fists and beer bottles in the face and about the body.”

The plaintiff alleges that as a result of the incident he was unable to attend to his everyday business and get on with his life, and was disfigured. He said that the attack was launched without any provocation or reason.

Officials have said that the lawsuit is of no concern to the university, stating: “Since it’s a civil lawsuit and there is no criminal charge associated with it, it’s a matter involving Jason Horton, Jason Tate, and the plaintiff, and it doesn’t involve the university in any way.”
