Lawsuit Filed Against Internet Company

A lawsuit has been filed against an Internet company that sells Internet addresses, with the plaintiff accusing the company of withholding domain names in the event that someone expresses an interest by checking on its availability but does not go ahead and actually purchase it.
According to the lawsuit the practice that is employed by Network Solutions LLC means that consumers are not able to shop around and look for suitable addresses at the best prices. The Internet company has claimed that the move is to protect consumers, but customers disagree.
Network Solutions LLC charges thirty five dollars a year for a name, which is far more than many of its rivals. The lawsuit, which was filed by a Florida man in US District Court in Los Angeles, now seeks class action status.
The man said that he conducted a search for the address “KidSearchNetwork.com” with the company but did not buy it. The address was then automatically reserved, and he found that it was not available elsewhere. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, and also aims to stop the company from using this practice.
