A thirty year old man with mental problems is suing officials from homeland security and immigration, after being deported and then spending three months lost in Mexico, with his family all searching for him.
Thirty year old Peter Guzman is a US Citizen who was born and raised in Los Angeles. After serving time in prison for trespassing he was deported to Tijuana in May of last year. For three months his family scoured hospitals, shelters, jails, and even morgues in a bid to find him.
According to his family, Guzman, who they say has problems with reading, writing, and memory, had to spend his time there begging and sleeping rough in order to survive.
A lawyer for Guzman stated: “Immigration and Customs Enforcement put Peter Guzman on a bus with $3 in his pocket and put him out in Tijuana. With no family or friends in Mexico, he broke down and thought that his country had rejected him.”
