Godfather Game Lawsuit Settled

A lawsuit has been settled between the estate of the author of ‘The Godfather’ Mario Puzo, and Paramount Pictures Corp following the release of a video game that was loosely based on the movie, according to recent reports.
In June the estate of the author filed the lawsuit against Paramount Pictures Corp, stating that as a result of the release of its 2006 game ‘The Godfather: The Game’ it owed the estate of Mario Puzo money. However, a settlement by both parties in the lawsuit was apparently reaches on Friday.
The attorney of Puzo’s estate said: “We think it’s a terrific settlement. This involved one of the most admired films of all time.” Court papers that were filed by Paramount in August denied owing the estate of the author any money.
Based on a Sicilian mafia family, the book and the movie The godfather have enjoyed great success. The author, Puzo, died in 1999. The book by Puzo was adapted into a hit movie by Francis Ford Coppola, and the novel became a best seller.
