World famous French designer Louis Vuitton has won a lawsuit and damages from a Chinese hotel, which was accused of renting out space to a shop that sold counterfeit product that used the logo of the French manufacturer.
The hotel and the manager of the shop selling the goods have been ordered to pay the design firm the equivalent of around fourteen thousand dollars as a result of the incident. They have also been ordered to stop selling the products and to destroy any that still remain.
The French designer had requested a far higher level of damages as well as a public apology, but this was turned down on the basis that the incident had not caused any widespread harm to the design firm.
The French design firm has also recently won another lawsuit, this time against a Beijing handbag producer, after claiming that its trademark designs had been ripped off for the handbags.
