Former Anti-Discrimination Employee Files Discrimination Lawsuit

A former employee of the Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division, Carol Kline has now filed a discrimination lawsuit of her own, claiming that she was forced to leave her job as an investigator at the Utah Antidiscrimination and Labor Division due to harassment and retaliatory behaviour from bosses.

Some years ago Kline, along with three other female workers, filed a complaint over alleged sexual harassment and intimidation from their boss, Joe Gallegos, between 1999 and 2003. Following an investigation Gallegos resigned from his post. However, the harassment and retaliation continued.

According to report tow of the three other complainants were forced out of their jobs eventually, and in 2005 Kline also felt forced out of her job due to the hostile working environment. In 2006 she filed her own complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

She has now filed a lawsuit seeking two hundred thousand dollars plus lost wages, stating: “I am deeply saddened that I was forced to leave a job I loved by an agency that is supposed to enforce anti-discrimination. I hope the UALD will seriously become a model agency protecting the rights of every employee.”
