Couple Settles Lawsuit Against Verizon Directories

A couple has reached a settlement after filing a lawsuit against Verizon Directories in Fulton County Superior Court after their property was listed as a dumping ground under ‘dumps’ in the directory, resulting in rubbish being dumped at their property and phone calls being made at all hours by people wanting to find out about the dump facility.
According to Jerome and Marie Patrick, their property details were listed under dumps in the directory leading to chaos for the couple. The couple ran a dump truck business and not a dumping ground, as the directory seemed to indicate. They claim that the mix up cost them money and resulted in a loss of business.
Although the lawsuit had been dismissed twice by a Fulton judge and then by an appeals court, it had been scheduled for appeal again. However, a settlement has now been reached prior to the new appeal date – the appeal was due to be heard at the Georgia Supreme Court.
The Patricks claim that they suffered harassment, inconvenience, and were even exposed to health hazards as a result of the garbage and rubbish being dumped at their property. This was in addition to the expense and loss of business that they also claim resulted from the situation.
