The cable service operator Charter Communications is being sued by a field technician working for the firm. The employee claims that the firm has failed to compensate field technicians for a variety of duties performed as well as for overtime.
The lawsuit is seeking compensation for unpaid overtime and other duties for around eight thousand current and former employees of the firm. This relates to field technicians that were assigned a company vehicle after March 15th 2005, which they then kept at home overnight.
The lawsuit states that employees were not compensated for loading and unloading the vehicles, stocking equipment, taking inventories, travelling times, cleaning of the vehicles, taking logs for the company, and various other tasks that they are said to have performed.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin in Madison on behalf of the employee Maurice James Sjoblom. Collective action status has been granted to the case.
