The brother of a former terrorist suspect has won a lawsuit that was filed against the London police in the UK. Mohamed Raissi claimed that he had been wrongfully arrested after he was taken into custody following the terrorist attacks in New York. He was taken in by London cops, who were targeting his Algerian brother who was under suspicion of training the 9/11 hijackers.
However, his brother was later cleared. Although his brother’s wife was also arrested at the same time, she lost her lawsuit against the police, but Mr Raissi won his lawsuit late last week. The amount of damages that he will receive is yet to be set according to reports.
His brother, Lofti Raissi, was arrested near Heathrow Airport in London following the attacks. He had been indicted by a U.S. grand jury in Arizona accused of providing pilot training to the hijackers involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America.
United States officials wanted Raissi extradited for falsifying documents. However, a British judge refused to do this and after five months released Raissi stating that there was actually no evidence to link him to any terrorist act.
