Brits Take Action Against Tour Operator

A number of Brits have taken legal action against a tour operator after falling victim to a sickness bug whilst aboard a cruise ship. The passengers claim that Princess Cruises was not prepared for the sickness outbreak and did nothing to prevent the spread of the illness once it had come to light.
The vessel, the Diamond Princess, had to be quarantined in Shanghai after sixty people were struck down with the virus and had to be confined to their cabins as a result. Two families have already taken legal advice and fifteen others are said to have made enquiries with the same law firm, Irwin Mitchell.
One passenger said: “We had been to one of the specialist restaurants onboard and my husband said he was feeling unwell. By the time we got back to our cabin, he was taken very ill quite suddenly. We were lucky – a doctor came out to us at 4am but we spoke to other people who had to wait 24 hours. Nearly everyone we spoke to had someone in their party who was affected.”
She added: “I am angry and upset with Princess Cruises that my husband became so seriously ill. We expected there would be stricter sanitisation procedures on board to prevent the spread of the illness. It ruined the trip for us. The highlight was meant to be China and going on the Maglev train but my husband never got to leave the ship when we were there.”
