A teacher is suing four students after they made a film starring a teddy bear that the teacher believes defamed him. According to the math teacher, Daniel Clevenger, the four students made a movie starring an evil teddy bear with the same name and profession as himself, which went on to order other stuffed toys to kill a teacher.
The lawsuit was filed in mid-May in Henry Superior Court. It relates to the film called the Teddy Bear Master, which lasts for seventy-eight minutes. In a related lawsuit just a couple of months ago three of the four students filed a federal lawsuit to battle against expulsion from the school – this part of the lawsuit was settled.
According to the lawsuit the teddy bear clearly defames the teacher, and also includes graphic violence, ultimately ending in the death of Clevenger and his wife. The lawsuit claims: “The defendants intentionally created the ‘Teddy Bear Master’ and intentionally used the plaintiff’s name in such a way that would provoke a reasonably foreseeable emotional disturbance or trauma.”
Clevenger’s wife Christine also expressed her concerns. She stated: “The only thing I can say is they have wronged my husband. He’s a very good person, he is a wonderful teacher, he’s a wonderful father and he’s a wonderful husband.”
