President Bush Being Sued Over Prayer Day

According to a recent report President George Bush and a number of other senior government officials are being sued by the largest group of atheists and agnostics in the United States, and this has all stemmed over a federal law that designates a national day of prayer.
Other government officials are also being sued over the matter, including the governor of Wisconsin. The lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court by the Freedom from Religion Foundation. The group claims that the designated day that calls on all Americans to pray is a violation of the constitutional ban that stops the government from endorsing religion.
The lawsuit goes on to state that the day of prayer results in a “hostile environment for non-believers, who are made to feel as if they are political outsiders.” The day of prayer is held every year on the first Thursday in May.
Previous lawsuits have already been filed by the group, and have so far been rejected. Also named as part of this latest lawsuit are Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and White House press secretary Dana Perino.
